Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly do I get when I order your movie?
You get a CD with a movie that is about 3 hours long, showing you all the important features of Spotlight. You also get an application that helps you play specific chapters of the movie and a Read Me file.

Do I have to have OS X 10.4.2 Tiger to see your movie?
No. Our movie is a Quicktime® movie that will play on any computer with a CD player and QuickTime 7 or 6.5 installed. You must also have a 1024 x 768 screen. However, Spotlight is a new feature in Mac OS X 10.4.2 Tiger and you need at least that version to use Spotlight. Also, our Table of Contents viewer requires OS X 10.4.2 Tiger or greater.

What are the System Requirements for your movie?
To view our movie you need QuickTime 7 or 6.5 installed, a CD drive and a screen size of 1024 x 768 or greater.

Installation instructions?
None. Everything plays off the CD-ROM. You don't need to install anything. You can copy the Spotlight movie and the Table of Contents viewer to your hard drive if you like. Put them anywhere.

How can I tell what version of QuickTime® I have?
Open your System Preferences.
Type a "q" in the Spotlight search box in the upper right.
A menu appears from the Spotlight search box.
Choose QuickTime Registration from the menu.
Click the About QuickTime button in the lower left.
You will see your version at the top of the sheet that appears.

How can I tell what version of Mac OS X I have?
Click on the "apple" in the very upper left of your Macintosh screen and choose "About This Mac". A window will appear that shows your version. Click the version number to see additional info if you need it.

Why can't I view your trailer?
If you have trouble viewing our trailer make sure you have either QuickTime 7 or QuickTime 6.5 installed. Earlier versions of QuickTime do not include H264 software. This software is necessary to play our trailer and our movie.

Your trailer starts and stops when I try to play it from the internet.
Our trailer might take a while to download depending on your internet connection. Once it has downloaded completely it should play without stopping and restarting. Take a look at the controller at the bottom of the movie. Is the track still showing some white instead of all dark gray? If there is still some white in the track then the trailer hasn't finished downloading yet. Once you see an all gray track the trailer should play without restarting. You can also try playing a smaller version of our trailer.

Your trailer doesn't play smoothly.
If you are using an older Macintosh, a first generation Titanium Powerbook for example, you might need to quit all applications except Safari while you watch our trailer. You can also try playing a smaller version of our trailer if playback on your machine is not smooth.

I can play your movie but your Table of Contents Viewer doesn't show any chapters?
You are trying to play the Table of Contents Viewer on a pre-Tiger version of OS X, pre 10.4.2. The Table of Contents Viewer requires OS X 10.4.2 Tiger or greater.

Can I play your movie in a DVD player attached to my television?
No. Our Spotlight movie will only play in a computer. It arrives on a CD not a DVD.

Who is Kagi?
Kagi is our partner. Kagi processes your payment for our movie. You will see a billing from Kagi, not Discover Your Mac, on your credit card when you order.
Kagi has been taking online orders for vendors like us for a very long time (about 10 years) and they have great service for both you and us.

I'm using a PC. Can I still see your movie?
No. The CD-ROM that we ship is currently Macintosh only.
